too.. full... cant... moooove....
but thats not the point.
rome wasnt built in a day.
it gonna take time to acheve what i want.
know my work.
have confidence.
jiayoujiayou krisso :)
sometimes every word my mum says is a gem worth treasuring.
Romeo+Juliet was showing on HBO just now.
its just weird that its so gangster-ish.
they tote guns and have tattoos and piercings and.. spout literature?
anyway, it was showing Dracula : Dead and Loving It last night.
i like :D
now if only they would show Hocus Pocus and Robin Hood : Men in Tights.
awesome weekend.
this weekend felt longer than usual.
maybe its the fact that i got up real early on saturday.
today, not so much.
lionel came over and we cooked (more of reheating actually) fishballs and taiwan sausages.
hee :D
went to bedoksouth hawkercenter for the japanese food
so many bloody long queues (free hello kitty?),
national past time indeed.
messaged a very innocent florence to ask her why,
like as though she know like that.
on saturday,
Devious Plan was put in motion! :D
had driving in the morning,
after which i left my Little Blue Book in the car.
THE HORROR!
bluffed lionel saying i had to retake all my lessons.
met up with the said lionel and we went to ikea for some meatballs and chicken wings!
it was really crowded.
i think we live in a weird place.
people going to places to do other stuff,
y'know, like study in the airport.
eat in the furniture store.
hurhur.
did some major card-swiping back at the malls after that,
then met up with jess and ling.
pig wasnt there yet,
and dora was busy scratching her knees fetching her niece.
we went to eat bread at eat-potato-place,
then The Master of The Devious Plan arriveth! OH MY GAWDZXZXZXZ!!
our very own printed teeeeeeeeeeeeees!!!!
with our very own faces!!!!!!
drawn by our very own artist!!!!!!
so devious.
KAWAII-NEHZXZXZ!!
:D
ling gave us some cute pencils.
those kind that we wont use one.
haha.
we were getting very high on recalling secondary school memories.
things like our home economic lessons,
playing pepsi-cola,
eating cup noodle,
going to so-and-so's house,
our various project/group work.
made our lives seem very exciting.
we were also saying something about girlfriends in the army.
like, each recruit should have a girlfriend
(i cant remember what led to this, but not to worry, we're not serious),
so its like,
among all the rifles and backpack and everything there would be A Girlfriend also thrusted upon the recruits.
"Serve The Nation, Be A Girlfriend"
lol.
got some bubbletea and sat at a playground,
where we started to talk about, of all things,
our signatures.
lol.
ling started on marriage prospects,
which seemed TOO OLD TOO SOON!
she said she wont marry an artsy type,
"i need my inspiration! you're cramping my style!"
our dearest artist was so indignant.
went our seperate ways but not before setting another date :D
dora promised that by our next date she would be driving already.
exciting.
bid jess farewell at the platform,
in a rare display of honesty ling said something like
"we must still meet up okay! cannot everyone disappear!"
and its like how j.k. rowling wrote,
that the most honest and thing-thats-been-on-my-mind is the last to come out
(like harry's son asking what if he was put in slytherin)
they confided their fears of starting school,
fears of not fitting in,
fears of each of us becoming different,
fears that upon changing we wouldnt click anymore,
fears that we would find new cliques.
i think those fears are unfounded.
we're not at that midteens age anymore,
where most cliques and stuffs are formed.
i think we're more or less normal (*coughs),
kael said if people overjudged, then they wouldnt be worth making friends with anyway.
and i wouldnt forgive myself if i found new friends and didnt treasure the old.besides, we've found our Captain Planet rings :)
its pretty cute and unique,
and i think it fits us perfectly.
you know,
"friends are like stars. you may not see them all the time, but you know they're there."
thats what i think when i see it.
Me: "Good morning, sir, what can I get for you?"
Customer: "Ehhh…I’ll have a coffee."
Me: "Excellent choice, sir. What kind of coffee? Our menu’s up there on the board if you’d like, or perhaps our house coffee?"
Customer: "What other kind of COFFEE is there? This IS a coffee shop, right?"
Me: "Well sir, we are a specialty coffee shop, and have many different varieties. If you’d like–"
Customer: "NO! This is so STUPID! Why would anyone bother having DIFFERENT kinds of coffee!"
Me: "…"
Customer: "Ha ha! Just kidding. I always wanted to do that."
(He skips out of the store. Yes, skipped. Keep in mind this is a middle-aged man.)
stumbled across a website on funny and mostly stupid customer quotes.
notalwaysright.com for a lot of laughs, and sometimes injustice.
but thats the way customer service is right?
wellwellwell.
check out my new phone, folks.
:D
good news #1
persias doesnt have HFMD!
his parents brought him to see a second doctor who prounounced him HFMD-free.
the teachers and staff were veryvery happy,
because its a proud fact that NAFAk has had zero cases of HFMD,
even with the outbreak last term :)
they were all also berating the first doctor, saying he anyhow diagnose,
i dont think he should be fully blamed.
better safe than sorry, no?
but poor lyann had to take many a call from a concerned parent.
good news #2
bullet train from beijing to tianjin!
journey time 30minutes!
thats like tanahmerah to say, tanjong pagar!
but what they fail to mention is that from beijing airport to the train station is 1hour.
in 2006,
we took 5hours from beijing to tianjin.
it was supposed to be 3hours,
but there was heavy fog.
i was knocked-out in the back
(sleeping cures motion sickness!),
but i remember a bit of the feeling.
it was fun because you couldnt see out of the window for nuts,
you could only hear alot of horns.
Car Horn Symphony.
and the car inched forward very very tentatively.
exciting.
picked up 8days today.
looks like singaporeans are quite creative with names after all.
no more Budget Terminal and Marina Bay,
make way for Pie Kia and Bread Pitt!
damn funny.
#1
my cousin victor is in the NTU advertisement on the cover of the home section today :D
he's a real nice, funny guy.
#2
my sister's mood changes so drastically its scary.
today she's back to being tired and stressed-out.
my mum says she's affected by her schoolmates breaking down and everything.
did yj see any of that? ;x
#3
everyworkingday i reach home around 6pm,
and i recently realized that i dont want to be cooped up in front of the computer for that one hour until dinner,
so ive been down in the kitchen to help my maid cook dinner!
okay so its just pushing the food around in the frying pan,
but still! :D
#4
my house is currently undergoing renovation.
makes me feel fortunate that i'm at work while theyre renovating.
today they did paintwork in my room/bathroom/sister's room.
i actually like the paint smell.
(will this start a whole iliketosmellcoulourpencils thing?)
i also like the smell of freshly-minted money (the paper one),
because of the "angpao" feeling i suppose.
hurhur.
#5
a little man fell down in art class today and bit his lip - hard.
was bleeding and all, poor thing :(
kai showed me his batman inkstamp during lunch,
he stamped one on my hand for me :D
next time confirm alot of girls jio him one,
now must talk to him more, lol.
no, im not a paedophile.
"paedophile" and "working at a kindergarten" should not be used in the same sentence.
#6we have about 4 or 5 korean students :)
kael and i were talking about insta-korean names.
have a "kim", "ae" and "oon" and there you have it!
#7
we're going to eat potato on the 26th! :D
interesting straits times article!
the "unique names" thing.
its the second time they've done it, i think.
the last one had people named "heaven" and "sky".
wondering why they didnt call me, lol (;x)
maybe next time they'll have persias and the tri-triplets.
then again,
its tough competition against "bright" and "diva" (too bad vann!) and "purpink" (sounds like a neopet).
i once picked up a book titled "how to name your baby" or something,
some parents should definitely read it.
it considers things like "do not have a first name that sounds like the last name, like edward woodward."
i think teasing is part and parcel of life,
its even cute sometimes.
just not too excessive, like what some names invite.
there's "creative" and then there's "plain stupid", you know.
thank you mum&dad for my name.
teehee ;x
gooooooooood weekend.
went back with pop and lionel to collect our certs,
checked out the new canteen.
it was so bloody warm, but i think someday the fans will appear.
it was very white and very clean,
gave a very "rich" kind of feel to the school, y'know?
joke of the day was the "flesh fish porridge"
(did they mean "fresh"?)
we read already stunned-tio,
jeremy made it worse by coming over and saying,
"you all eaten the flesh fish porridge already?"
holy cows.
but they said it was a new sign,
so not many people noticed it yet.
went to eat the laksa which pop had been promoting,
the queue is seriously super long.
my mum said singaporeans are like that,
will guaiguai queue.
but i once read a quote by george mikes,
he said, "an english gentleman, even when he is alone, forms an orderly queue of one".
anyway,
jialiang made me crack up by imitating the girl beside me,
and heath ledger's joker too.
(have pictures, will upload someday.)
and he was eating laksa and dessert at the same time,
like xiaodi when he pours soup into his rice,
which i think is weird,
but in your stomach it all mixes up anyway.
but then again, you have to savour the taste!
went northpoint to chui aircon,
then pop went on his merry way.
i say that because he just went down the escalator like that,
we didnt even say bye face-to-face, lol.
854-ed to bedok with lionel,
just so we could catch some 40 winks on the long journey.
woke up suddenly right outside the driving center.
raining elephants and cows when we reached bedok.
sought haven in ntuc,
which was our destination anyway,
for lionel to pick up detergent/snacks.
had great fun putting everything i wanted into the basket.
in the end most snacks belonged to me :(
cute pasttime, snack shopping.
hor, kael? :D
hit marina square today for some shopping.
had lunch at pizza hut where we didnt eat pizza,
walked around abit,
ate some icecream from azubo sabo or something.
i think nice lychee icecream is hard to find :(
walked around abit more,
settled at mac's for a bite.
the family next to us was a complete example of the opposite of a loving family.
they were a family of four,
two parents, one elder daughter, one younger son.
(the two kids were very young)
they didnt speak to each other, they accused.
"why you do this, why you do that? why you buy so many icecream? why you buy two choclates?"
accusing and defensive, not pretty.
who am i to judge,
but i wonder how the children will grow up.
with just one whine,
another icecream appears, just to stop the whining before it really starts.
maybe they were just having a bad day
(yes, im just saying that.)
holed up in times abit,
some people read so blatantly,
they should just patronise the library.
the walk home was hilarious,
he was showing me some "floating card" trick,
which was really really really lame,
i almost died.
and that "moving thumb" trick,
its lame too but it cracks me up.
he said i ruined the great trick by laughing at it,
hohoho.
ordered pizza hut to celebrate my brother's birthday,
its the second time they forgot to deliver the full order.
did i mention we ate at pizza hut for lunch too?
and i didnt know that overseas the pizza hut is really the hut shape,
like in the logo.
super cute leh.
my sister was stressed out the whole day,
was helping her with gp last night,
and i see in her face the same kind of feeling i sometimes had last year.
its the "i dont understand this at all" feeling,
and when you try to put what you know across to other people,
what they say dont make sense,
what you say dont make sense to them,
your mind is swirling all around,
you cant find a focus,
you dont understand the question and what it wants,
your fuse is shortening by the millisecond,
tears are those of frustration,
and you worry the other person will flare up,
you're guilty when they dont,
you feel like giving up at the next moment.
its a sucky feeling.
im not saying that's exactly how she feels,
but the stress part is there.
i remember alot of times when i flared up at lionel over chemistry.
the least i can do is try to make things clearer.
tomrrow the kids are celebrating racial harmony day,
they'll be wearing ethnic costumes! :D
i tell you, i feel so loved by my friends :)
#1:
VANN pukes durians says:
miss keane
VANN pukes durians says:
u like all the other kids dun like us alrdy!
VANN pukes durians says:
ppg v sad
HAHAHA.
dont worry ppg!
ms. keane still loves you much!
and #2:
needs no words.
my darling is an awesome talent (who loves me very much)
counting down to the 26th.
maybe thats her devious plan,
to get us all looking forward to an outing more than usual.
teehee.
(this teehee thing is growing on me.
no thanks to dawn wayang.)
finally seeing lionel tomrrow after two weeks :))
i have a feeling pretty soon i'll be able to get along better with the kids.
today during lunch some k2s came to the "canteen" first,
because they took the schoolbus and arrived before the others.
i was very very very fascinated by how small they are. (teehee)
there's a very angmoh looking mixed blood,
he's called kai (:
he's the type that my sister will point at and say "that one grow up will be very handsome"
he asked me to peel a sticker off its backing for him,
(which made me marvel how they will just talk to anyone),
it was a barbie doll sticker.
he said he likes barbie.
later on in the day another little man was brought into the office/sick bay,
his teacher mentioned that he had ulcers,
so lyann did a check.
and all the time i was thinking his mouth is so tiny!
got to talk to him for a longlong while waiting for his dad to pick him up.
his name is persias.
yes, so very unique please.
he was telling me how his little brother hit him with a pencil case.
and how his little sister is "so small *puts hands together in cupping position"
lyann knows all the childrens' names and particulars,
and she didnt know he had a new baby sister.
persias: "not new.. yesterday also have."
DAMN CUTE RIGHT.
at first he was very shy,
then he started to open up and talking to me about all his favourite shows,
ultraman and ben 10 and some "change-man" thing,
apparently there're alot of colours and he wants to be red, his didi is blue and his meimei is white,
and he will sit the aeroplane, the didi sit in a truck and meimei in helicopter.
gave him some paper and a pencil,
guess what he drew for me.
TADAH, ULTRAMAN!
HAHAHAHA SUPER CUTE!
his dad picked him up and brought him to see a doctor,
turns out he's the first case of HFMD here at NAFAk :(
he got it from his brother.
felt so sad that soon those red spots in his mouth will develop into ulcers :((
suddenly the enormity of the situation hit me,
how just one person can affect so many others.
and then lyann had me photocopy letters to the parents notifying them of the case.
i was quite amazed how allison (the principal) had typed out the letter so quickly,
then lyann told me it had been on standby very long already.
which was also interesting, not to mention smart.
reminded me of an 8days issue back in the singapore idol days,
they had three seperate shoots pairing taufik/sly/olinda,
so when the top two were announced,
they could print the corresponding article immediately.
always be prepared, yessiree.
my sister has alot of people who are always dropping things in for her.
she's just received a box of donuts, and it isnt the first time.
so nice hor.
wellwell, its my brother's birthday tomorrow :)
the thing about booking driving lessons is how a whole chunk of money suddenly disappears.
very very very very heartpain.
i dont even spend $200 on things i like.
(not at one shot anyway)
but its money well spent,
and during the lessons i actually think its worth it, hmm?
stumbled across an accidental movie on HBO just now.
usually we'll eat dinner with the tv on,
but the show doesnt usually garner much attention,
so after dinner it's straight back up to the more exciting internet.
but this evening's show was funky.
its called frequency,
and its abit like the lake house,
in the sense that there's people living in the past/future who can communicate with each other.
frequency was much nicer,
because its not a romance story (;x)
its a father and son thing,
and it had some murder plot twisted into it too,
makes for some serious watching.
it also had alot of scenes of auroras (aurora borealis),
the northern lights.
SUPER PRETTY STUFF!
its totally magic :)
today some little ones had an outing to pasir ris kids kampong,
a couple of them were sick and had to be picked up by their parents,
one of them was a brave little man caled dylan.
apparently he threw up after drinking too much milk?
but was perfectly fine after that,
his mum even said it was normal when he got overly excited.
lyann went to ask if dylan could still go for the excursion,
but the buses already left.
he was so strong while waiting for his mum.
(the office doubles up as a sick bay),
but after that his mum called and asked if she got send him to the destination straight,
because he was sobbing in the backseat, sad that he missed the excursion.
super cute la.
in the office he didnt even show his disappointment.
went down to cdc to top up my account,
(fly and be free, my money!)
had to walk the length of st.pat's to get to the bus stop.
thank goodness for the siglap park connector.
came out on the other side,
The Bus Stop was across the road.
turned to the right and walked about 300m,
past st.pat's main gate,
crossed the overhead bridge,
tracked back another 200m and reached The Bus Stop.
wondered why all the patricians were arriving from the right, not left (as i had from the overhead bridge)
realized there was a pedestrian crossing right in front of the connector which i had come out from.
i thought the pedestrian crossing led to another connector,
it didnt occur to me it also led to the other side of the road.
okay nevermind.
airing my dirty laundry.
was watching they kiss again before i return it,
not as addicted to it as xinyi.
vann absolutely cannot watch this,
there's a lot of injections and drawing blood,
it made me squirm.
(and wonder if just anybody could draw blood from anybody)
and yang pei ting should totally win something for her giving-birth scene.
it was so real,
AND THEY SHOWED A REAL BIRTH!
vann would have fainted on the spot.
stayed up last night to watch the re-telecast of Miss Universe.
actually we were only watching to see Miss USA fall down,
but its always great fun watching pageants anyway.
i like the National Dress segment.
some headpieces are sooooooo elaborate.
Miss Japan looked like she could kill.
but they will never pick the one we're rooting for.
miss singapore will never get more than 10seconds of airtime.
sad that they didnt telecast this year's miss singapore.
first day of work!
having nice people in the office is already almost akin to having an enjoyable job :D
the principal, allison, is one of those admirable people who can talk to all ranks (kids and subordinates alike)
the admin person is lyann and her niceness seems to radiate from within.
all day long teachers kept coming in and out of the office.
lunch was very fun because the chair/table so low.
teehee.
yes, we use the same ones as the kids.
and first day already dramamamama.
this father complained (i think he put it across very nicely) about a bus driver's attitude,
and then the busdriver just threw in the towel like that,
the whole bus of kids he was in charge of, he didnt send home.
ended up pei-ing the kids a little while,
as they waited for another bus.
one little preschool girl was soooooooooo adorable,
she looked so terrified.
another one who talked to me was also sooooooooooooo cute.
was typing names into a list,
i like looking at names, very interesting.
there were a couple of triplets, cool right.
i like one of the triplets' names.
tristan, trinity and trillon.
trillon not so much but the other two are so awesome!
and all starting with "tri", like a constant reminder they're a part of three.
found one called kae-lyn, and another called kael too.
there was an arielle.
alot had double names.
some twins had confusing names,
try pronouncing kaitlyn and katherine,
(they had the same second name too)
while others had names as far apart as A and Z
(adriel and zachary, actually)
so so so so fun.
oops, is this a breach of confidentiality?
im just browsing a babynames book :)
and as i keyed in their birthdates, namely in 2005/2006,
i was wondering what i was doing at the time of their birth.
see, while you're mugging for As,
or sitting there reading blogs,
there's a baby being born.
quite some activities coming up.
the annual concert has an "around the world in 80 days" theme,
and we have to find costumes.
i have never taken part in something like that before D;
we have to "book" our costume ideas too,
so far japanese is booked (so easy, kimono only),
korean, hawaiian, china, indian are all gone.
me: "maybe i'll go as a singaporean."
lyann: "huh then wear what?"
me: "tshirt and shorts lor."
and the best thing?
it was such a finefine feeling,
leaving NAFAk at 1800 and reaching home at 1815.
bweeheeeheeeee.
my dad forgot to bring home his chocolate :(
9th july 2008, wednesday
went to see xiaodi off from T3,
maybe the giant fan is not as useless as it seems after all,
because everyone is "where are you where are you?" "the giant fan!"so we're all at the giant fan, but different floors.
good job. and as i whipped out my camera kael was saying "... and i always see people taking picture of the fan and its very stupid... oh."
"but i never see anyone take a picture of it from the bottom before." the snyo "blazer" which is a pretty redwhiteblack windbreaker thingy.
such a sneaky face.
but it wasnt on purpose.
my sister's shirt had "WEDNESDAY' on it to remind her which day of the week it was.
wouldnt it be greater fun if she wore it on any other day? eating the I ♥ Singapore sweet.
I ♥ Singapore!
I no ♥ Singapore sweet.
that sweet is disgusting,
and i think the only reason why it's still in production is because people want to jisiao their friends.
evil people.
*coughs super stoning in the lift.
wonder how xiaodi's now.
what he has seen so far.
ittaaaallllyyyyyyy.
11 july 2008, friday
jess couldnt wait to see me so she came over first,
and then ling was at the door and we wanted to prank her.
"eh my gate spoil leh, must climb over."
i think she would have. ling: "wah damn shiok!"
she was regaling us with tales of university camps,
they all sound disgusting and fun.
(yes i know, disgusting and fun?)
left the house with the both of them,
came back with the other two in tow.
my sister was so confused.
ling couldnt stay the night so we started playing first,
torturing dora was sweet.
i've never seen anyone express so much joy when they receive a particular card.
i mean, those gamblers when they get a super card also not so happy one.
one of the rules created was having a soft toy on your head. jess one is sooo cute.
my sister'll be proud, she got that kukumalu for my birthday some years ago.
it finally gave purpose to its life that night,
or rather, jess gave it purpose to its life.
it was abit freaky though, jess.
but all in good fun!
(especially for kael :D) ling and the doggy that buddy got for me for my birthday.
the focus is on bubbles getting squashed like... like anything.
dora got the floppiest, easiest-to-balance-on-head toy.
which is the esso white tiger supercute toy i picked up in joshua/josiah's room.
teehee.
it also explained her ecstatic face. there's no way marks&spencer could have balanced on my head.
the pig got the honour instead.
layhoon gave it to me for.. my birthday.
i have tons and tons of soft toys.
cheers to The Girls!
played worms for awhile,
ling left,
play pictionary which of course led to charades,
then jess & dora taught kael & i to play bridge.
if i wasnt so woozy i would have enjoyed it more,
and it was already very fun in my heavy-eyelids mode.
wished i learnt it earlier so that sssp could have passed faster too.
but now there's nobody to play it with :(
next date: 26 july saturday, for dinner!
and for kael to put her Devious Plan 1.0 into motion :D
dad's flying off tonight instead of tuesday night because some things cropped up back in china :(
went all over the place today.
dropped my sister and mum off at dance and walked around ntuc,
picked up my mum while my sister went out with her friends,
went to temasekclub for awhile,
picked up my brother at sgh,
picked up my sister 400m down the road,
met up with my uncle, aunt, cousin+girlfriend for dinner.
starting work tomorrow :D
my sister and i just watched anastasia (the cartoon) again.
sometimes when revisiting cartoons,
you can understand more things.
anyway went to look for more information on anastasia (the real person),
was abit interesting because we learnt some of these things in secondary school history already.
it just made me sad that they were all murdered.
the daughters were 22,21 and 19 years old, with anastasia being 17,
and their brother, only 13.
imagining dying at such a young age..
and apparently this year they've discovered remains of the brother and one of his sisters,
who appeared to have escaped the mass killing,
so all of them are now accounted for.
still it was saddening to see pictures of them in their childhood,
going about all their activities, laughing..
not knowing they would have so little time left,
living as they would live for 79, 80 years..
aren't we all like that?
so i woke up at 6pm.
more on the sleepover later,
there's a lot of thinking stuff i discovered today.
#1 (alot of geography!)
the straits times' special staurday insight today was on the birth rate of singapore,
and the "wish list" of parents and parents-to-be,
like, longer paid leave and free childcare and stuff.
i think its interesting.
the benefits become the reason for having a child?
people who find it hard to return to a career after years spent at home with the children?
having to choose: family or career?
it also said that in 45 years,
the population may be cut by half,
shrinking "past the point of no return",
which is a very scary thought.
will singapore cease to exist?
one mother said that a single child would have higher-than-average educational achievements, income, and wealth.
you agree?
my dad's financial manager said my mum must have been very xingku,
bringing up three children.
my sister said next time when they're in their golden years,
my parents can depend on three chlidren to support them.
i've always liked the demographic transition theory (;x)
explaining how with economic progress birthrates decline.
so many different factors.
this year's geog cohort must read this article!
#2 (and you thought reading gossip wasnt educational)
perezhilton relayed that officially designated Olympic restaurants have been asked to strike dog meat off the menu.
he asks:
"What do U think? Should peeps be eating dogs???
Is eating a dog any different from eating a cow or a chicken???"
which was why i went to read the comments in the first place.
some comments were surprisingly.. intellectual.
not just those who go "ewww fuck off!" that kind.
for (the most of) us, eating dog is just unthinkable,
especially if we own one
(for pet-purpose, not food-purpose)
of course,
taking a dig at my sister with lines of "miko curry" and things are all in good fun.
you'll have to force dogmeat down my cold, dead throat.
(or you could just tell me its beef and have me believe it)
they say its because dogs are a man's best friend.
its more intelligent than most animals.
(but arent pigs intelligent too?)
dogs also welcome you home, comfort you, are there for you...
and you know it,
there were people who were vegetarians/vegan,
saying it was murder to eat anything with a heartbeat
(um, when its dead does it still have a heartbeat? okay crude joke, i know)
but what if plants had feelings too?
like all those articles on how music affect plant growth?
i think the arguement that "its a different culture"
is probably the most sensible.
we all do things that other people dont.
i liked that episode of fear factor when they had to eat a century egg.
once read a comprehension for gp which said it wasnt the killing that was the problem,
it was the method of killing.
the torturing of animals so that they would be pumping adrenaline and the meat would be more tender.
the too-close-for-comfort confinement of livestock and cattle.
they were calling for a more humane method of slaughtering.
enough brainjuice.
my parents are ktv-ing in the living room.
i found a direct bus from the driving school to NAFAk, joy.
(i got lazy typing NAFA kindergarten)
today's driving lesson was super funny.
i will burst into giggles whenever i recall the instructor calling me octopus,
or saying i cannot drive pregnant ladies otherwise they will give birth from the mouth when i brake too hard.
AHAHHAHAHA.
drove out of the circuit today,
chugged along all the way to bedok resevoir and tampines!
"EH EH TURN! YOU WANT TO GO IKEA IS IT!"
exciting.
and it wasnt as big a deal as i thought.
like, merging with other drivers,
going at real speeds and not just at 20km/h.
i think the instructors are such life-savers.
went to NAFAk to orientate abit,
everyone is so nice,
and you can see it from their faces.
i think it has something to do with the little kids.
bytheway,
one of the reasons why i think i'll be very happy there,
is because i'm taller than all the kids.
my dad came home yesterday with his finance manager too
(business trip, not leisure.)
she is so cute.
we went to muthu's curry and ate until we couldnt move,
then skipped over to ministry of food for some unusual japanesse dessert.
i feel like sleeping.
THE MAN OF THE HOUSEHOLD ARRIVETH! :D
he'll be flying off on tuesday night.
bytheway,
im superly excited about tomorrow's sleepover.
we'll do girly stuff like talk makeup and curl our hair and paint our nails...
...NOT! (duh)
lee jialiang has gone m.i.a on me one too many time.

(psst. that's a heartshaped willywonka nerd)
went to the airport to send xiaodi off.
he's flying to italy with SNYO.
such a lucky boy.
ITALY.
its like kael said.
will i ever get to visit italy in my lifetime?
and other places, for that matter.
mum (looking very serious): carin, we cant put a mirror in the study room.
carin: huh why!
mum: because when we play mahjong can see (the reflection of the tiles)
apparently my sister wants to turn the study into a mini dance studio.
"after a round of interviews yesterday.. we've decided to give you the position."
i must have made some weird noise because she went "you don't want the job any more?"
me: "nono.. i'm just.. honoured."
and honoured i was too.
she did say they were looking for a long term, few years down the road thing.
felt like i was finally accepted into something after countless rejections from universities.
finally i can plan what i'm doing without risking an interview cropping up suddenly.
I'M UNEMPLOYED NO MORE! :D
after two months of excess bumming around.
totally gave up on recruitexpress and kellyservices,
ling told me to email them and scold them,
my sister said maybe there are other more urgent cases pending than mine.
so anyway my new job works out super-swell for me,
its 15minutes away,
i dont have to squeeze on the train (cant... breathe!),
and lunch is provideddddddddddd.
thats shaving ALOT of expenses off the budget.
(did i mention it might be a diet? ;x)
know where?
NAFA Kindergarten.
CUTE RIGHT!
ALL THE KIDS RUNNING AROUND!
but no, not as a teacher.
i cant bear that responsibility.
i dont get along (so well) with kids.
as staff i will have to join in programmes like..
a lantern festival outing at night,
and the customary kindergarten concert.
(and its an arts school! bound to be a good performance)
suddenly an image of florflor in a yellow dress and yellow ribbons in her hair and clutching a basket comes to mind.
HEEHEEHEEEE.
STARTING WORK ON MONDAY!
JUST IN TIME FOR SLEEPOVER!
Daddy,
I tried "involving" Mummy and telling her what I plan to do and stuff.
Sometimes I think her working persona has taken over her at home.
Sometimes I think a little encouragement could be good.
Sometimes I think I disappoint her, and you, too much.
When I want to talk to her about serious issues like my further education and jobs, I always feel so nervous and I have to muster up the courage to even knock on the door. I put more thinking into talking to her than for interviews, like making sure she's in a good mood or she's free. I always tell myself to "keep calm keep calm" but more often than not tears well up in my eyes for no reason at all, because she's not even scolding me, but I feel like I'm just one of her "girls" in the clinic.
She says it doesnt matter but actions speak louder than words and you know it when she says she's not unhappy yet for days on end dinner is a silence only broken by the tv and normal conversations with The Brother.
You say she just wants to know what's going on in our lives but yet when I tell her its like she doesnt care or like she's given up all hope on me, and when I ask her what she thinks about it or what she suggest I do she says I'm grown up enough to make these decisions.
I go to her with the intention of sharing my problems and views but in the end it doesnt work out that way. I leave with more problems and thoughts and feeling that I have to be independent and that she doesnt care what I get up to because she thinks I can make my own choices. My "achievements" hardly register on her scale and then I suddenly think they're not such a big deal after all.
Of course, I understand what type of person Mummy is, that she is really admirable in terms of her work ethic and her outtake on Life and lifelong learning, her enthusiasm on doing well what she does and how she takes care of her health and everything. I think she's already really strong without you by her side for the past two years. I know all these and I'm saying it because I want you to know I'm not so one-dimensional I cannot see the good points along with the not-so-good.
And obviously I dont want to trouble you with all these stuff and make you worry and make you sad that your family at home is like this and why can't we just take care of each other and get along and that's why I'm not really sending you this e-mail.
i superscared the freak out of the bullied when i hadnt got a grip yet and he suddenly called, like he tends to do when he's on guard duty, and so for awhile i was sniffling then laughing really hard when i thought about how freaked out he must have been when i answered the phone.
HAHAHAHA.
Look Up More - Improv Everywhere
**********
Improv Everywhere is the kind of community i'd like to join.
heard of the "flash mob" thing in singapore?
yeah, it's kinda like that.
their "agents" carry out "missions" that take the public by surprise.
came across it on bitsandpieces,
one of their missions was getting 8 pairs of twins to mirror each other on the train,
creating a human mirror and confusing passengers.
there was a musical in a foodcourt,
because, they said, and i agree,
that its very weird that people in musicals always burst into song suddenly.
others include throwing a birthday party for a stranger,
who went from denying to acting the part.
they impersonated U2 by playing on one of their rooftops,
because U2 really did throw a couple of surprise concerts.
they turned up at a gig for a relatively unknown band,
and made the band feel like megasuperstars.
they carried out this cellphone ringing thing in a bookstore,
which kind of reminded me of the video i made for YJWinds.
very cool stuff!
check out their list of missions here.
happily n'ever after: "you know the cinderella story right? remember rick the servant?-"
sister interjects: "no?"
happily n'ever after: "-of course you dont!"
happily n'ever after has a wickedly hilarious script.
"why.. log.. hurt.. prince"
the prince makes the one in enchanted look like a harvard graduate.
HAHAHAHAH.
since we're on the topic of funny,
neil humphrey's column for this week and last was a blast :)
you know that xiaxue/dawnyang cyberwar?
watching how they communicate you already know who's the "winner".
it always strikes me as fascinating when a person,
wanting to help himself,
is doing the exact opposite.
kind of like digging deeper and deeper when you're trying to climb out of a hole.
its like so obvious who's being logical and who's not co-operating,
but since when was that a killer question.
still,
it must suck to be either party.
its a very heavy feeling.
everything you say can be misinterpreted.
you can be acting noble and magnanimous, or even condescending.
you can be acting pitiful, or being immature and uncooperative,
when you think these things are nothing to be laughed at.
yessiree,
makes topic for conversation.
times like these we should remember that being polite is everything.
what an explosion in singapore cyberspace.
say u love me is such a mouthful to sing.
i received a letter from yj telling us we can collect our certs and everything,
but thats not the point.
the point is the address was handwritten and everything,
typical girl handwriting know?
and i was thinking, "wa somebody at yj admin so free can handwrite addresses for everyone?"
after musing for awhile i finally remembered,
there was one time mr.david told us to bring envelopes and address them to ourselves,
solely for this purpose.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
NO WONDER THE HANDWRITING SO FAMILIAR.
WAHLAU HAPPENED ONE YEAR AGO ONE LEH.
oh yes,
kael and i bought cute ezlink "skins" from minitoons so we have cute adult ezlink cards now!
:D
if my sister can survive a 30hour "famine",
i can survive not eating until dinner.
was m.i.a.-ing the past few days watching vcds,
namely it started with a kiss,
which is quite draggy.
i dont like calling it ISWAK.
(kael: "WARKSSS!")
it sounds pretty stupid, but it really saves time.
i think its interesting in the sense that it chronicles their lives from high school to university.
ariel lin is sometimes really pretty and sometimes pretty ordinary.
jess' words keeps haunting me with "dadong's character very irritating" ;x
i like joecheng's character because he's handsome when he doesnt smile. hohoho.
okay nevermind.
then i realized that other blogs have also stagnated.
makes me wonder what's going on in their lives too. on sunday lionel came over and helped to change the lightbulbs.
so handy, having a man in the house.
HAHAHA. corne arriveth monday night!
look at that.
look at how empty T3 is.
anyway corne was veryveryvery excited,
worms was really a pain in the abs.
i think he's No.1 Bitchy Queen.
set off for supper at 168 around 11pm,
had meepok and roti prata,
corne said he missed singapore food.
and he thanked the meepok aunty for cooking the noodles until very nice. i dont know why but this picture feels very overseas-ish to me.
probably because 7eleven is kinda international.
watched jayzhou's secret,
realized that there's caihong and pu gong ying de yue ding in the background!
those songs were released in the album after the show hmmm? my sister playing with her gum.
wednesday kael and i trooped down to cafe momentum to visit our younger siblings.
see see!
read book somemore!
its situated at quite an ulu place, armenian road.
but SMU's nearby.
kael and i were watching people walking around on SMU campus.
kael: "okayokay dont see already." my sister and xiaodi!
woohoo.
the cafe's quite cosy actually.
for some reason i had always imagined it as one in far east,
white and pristine and bright lights,
but oh well.
alot of clocks on the walls,
they were for sale.
kael amazed me by reading the chinese words on two of the clocks.
a row of computers on the side for staff use only *coughs
the tvs and some computer screens was showing stocks and stuff,
very weird for a chilling-out cafe. and the funkiest thing was,
each table had a sheet of paper and a flowerpot of crayons.
yes, i say flowerpot.hot sun suns the hot dog.
beoh-ing the cute waiter.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. obviously i didnt take a good picture.
but compare this... .. to this.
my imaginative favourite way for kael to communicate with fendi.
because he cant read chinese, he can read the hanyu pinyin as english!
you try.
after xiaodi's shift we headed to marina square and caught get smart,
second time watching for kael and i,
but it was still laughable. dinner-ed at sakae where xiaodi ate alot of egg stuff.
kael had apparently put a whole sushi in her mouth.
there was an aquarium somewhere,
a product of a shop doing those aquarium-in-the-walls thingy.
this fish looks so.. like an old haughty duchess.
that condescending look and pursed-up lips.
and maybe because it looks like its wearing make-up. xiaodi flirting with the prawn.
xiaodi bought this fortune-teller bottle thing,
its kind of like the magic ball y'know?
when i see these kind of things i wonder why people buy them.
okay, all in the name of fun.
asked the bottle alot of weird questions.
"can we go play worms now?"
sister came home from dance class and joined in.
the 1990s thrashed the 1989s,
due to the fact that THEY CHEATED!!!!!
(you will never see me using that many exclaimation marks again)
and for the first time xiaodi posed :D
my sister wants to watch the exorcism of emily rose.
it made me afraid of 3am.
i remember when i had to work morning shift i would set my alarm for 3.01am.
HAHAHAHA.
anyway she's now asleep on my bed.
i hate the finding-job process.
its so slow.
and then it drags down other things too.
zzzz.
its already july.
this year has been so different.
hmmm.
i was watching episodes of wo ai heisehui,
and then they had one on the things the girls are afraid of.
turns out vann is not so strange after all,
there are other people who are afraid of veins and buttons.
and wigs and pineapples and fish and sausages and soil.
okay wigs are understandable,
especially on mannequins,
especially if the mannequin has no body.
but seeing people so distraught by pineapple and fish is just too weird.
the girl who was scared of soil looked almost possessed when she had to touch it.
it was by far the scariest reaction ive ever seen.
and yatou totally fled from the scene when the sausages appeared.
almost all were psychological.
like miqi dont like seeing pple's veins because when she was young a nurse gave her an injection but couldnt find her vein, so poked her in the arm alot of times.
and yatou's grandmother once used a sausage to hit her head, and her classmates teased her about it.
(try not to hurt yourself laughing)
its true when they say one man's titanic is another man's loveboat
to us things may be normal but to others, not,
and vice versa too.
and i think heisehui is very.. addictive.
its like you're interested in one person,
and then you find the others more interesting too,
and even those you dont like you start to like..
they talk about some interesting stuff,
besides the episode on things that they're scared of,
there's also one on platonic relationships,
and i really dont know where they get all the ideas from.
but what i like best is their attitude.
its like they dont mind criticism,
dont mind being teased and stuff,
polite to "elders" and willing to learn.
yes the willling to learn thing is super evident because they keep having contests for dancing and other talents.
its like one whole (dontwanttogrowup) happy family.
